As any parent will know, babies do not come cheap. Unless you are lucky enough to have family hand-me-downs, kitting out little ones with the latest prams and cots can cost a small fortune.

As a recent new mum, I would frantically browse Ebay, while my little boys slept, to try and find cheap deals for all the gorgeous baby kit I aspired to own. However, I got very frustrated at auctions – I was never online at the right time to win or the high postage costs meant the items weren’t bargains anymore!

I had the idea for Nappy Valley, while out walking on the Northcote Road in Battersea, London. If you know this area, you will know that if you are not pushing a pram, you are in the minority! “Surely, with so many families living in such close proximity, there must be scope for a ‘localised Ebay’ specialising just in baby items”, I thought.

This thought became a reality and nappyvalley.co.uk was launched in September 2006. A chic and easy to use website was created to provide a local online marketplace for buying and selling nearly new baby items.

The website initially was aimed at the South West London market where the company is based, but word has spread nationwide and we now have representatives all over the UK in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Surrey.

As families continue to migrate to be closer to other like-minded families, Nappy Valley hopes new friendships might be created by recycling a second-hand double buggy!
